My rock bottom & how you can save yourself

Here’s a little nugget of awesome that genuinely will help you lift yourself up and help you lift the other people are around you: 

Women helping women WORKS. It does! And it can work in the ðŸ”¥ holy-biscuits-what-the-what, totally life-changing way!

Part of the reason why I founded Brave Heart Open Mind is to help women find self-love, self-confidence, and true happiness in their lives, because I truly believe deep down in my heart that this work is necessary and good. 

Because the point is— when you reach out to help someone next to you, it can totally light up their world! âœ¨

And it can set your own world on fire, because it helps you to recognize the accomplishments that you have already achieved in your life!

So what I would encourage you to do is look around you and think about who you can impact today in a positive way!

Who do you think that you can stretch a hand out towards to help them be where you are? Or experienced something wonderful and delightful that you have experienced?

Part of what I love to do for the people who are in my orbit— for my followers and clients, friends and family— is to see how I can reach out to them on a daily basis. There are a lot of times where I schedule time for myself just to text people or just to send Marco Polo’s to women that I love and care about. (I’m relatively new to the world of Marco Polo and I’m totally loving it! If you don’t have it yet, it’s like Skype and Text Messaging had a baby: You send video messages to each other and then you have as much time as you want to reply! I’ve been totally loving it!)

So bottom line, sweet friend, I encourage you to reflect for a moment today on how you can help other women around you! Schedule half an hour, or 10 minutes even, sometime this week to shoot a couple of text messages to some friends to see how you can be there for them ðŸ’›

It took me over a decade to get to where I am today.

From my own rock bottom— sitting at the end of an emotionally abusive relationship, fully depressed, with imbalanced hormones, halfway through college, unable to do anything other than barely hang on and pretend I was fine, (when really my self-image was a total dumpster fire on the inside). There were real moments of sobbing-on-the-floor feelings of wretchedness, catatonic-in-bed feelings of hopelessness, and hiding-blades-from-myself urges of self-harm during this time. 

Medication to balance my hormones helped regulate my brain chemistry to smooth back the depression and darkness, but I was still left with a completely trashed self-image. I wanted to love myself, and it took me over a decade to figure out how to genuinely make that happen.

And in the in-between time, I spent far too long listening to the voice in my head telling me I wasn’t good enough– that I was a hideous, unlovable cow person. And that I deserved to feel that way.

I spent WAY too long feeling stuck, unlovable and unfulfilled— without really knowing why— wondering why I couldn’t be happy, and confident, and carefree like other women.

And I spent so many nights kicking myself for things I did wrong, or should’ve done better.

And you know how this goes, don’t you? Eventually you ache for yourself, feeling small and undeserving, but wishing so hard— with all your heart— that you felt differently. That you felt full of hope, and positivity, and full of dreams!

It’s so dang easy to get stuck in our own minds, surrounded by cruel thoughts, feeling powerless. 

It’s so easy to spiral deeper— feeling unimportant and unempowered in our own lives.

My personal journey over the course of that decade has thankfully brought me all the way to where I am now: the founder of an amazing and fulfilling business, totally loving my life!

Because here’s the truth that no one tells us about our own minds:
You can always re-route the thinking & habits running in your mind. You can treat yourself gently, lovingly, and with kindness now!

You can make major shifts in your mindset and sense of positivity! You can feel in charge and powerful— creating the lifestyle and future you want!

It took me over a decade to learn— first— that this was even possible— and second— how to do it for myself.

And if I can help you skip the trudging, slow-as-heck, mountain climb out of the trenches of self-doubt and self-hate, and streamline a decade for you— like, that’s amazing! Why wouldn’t I help you? How could I not??

In other nerdy news, you should also know that I’m a total geek and an avid life-long learner: I am certified to teach public speaking (and more!) with a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication & Journalism and a Masters Degree in Education by the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I am certified as a Life & Success Coach, Hypnotherapist, and NLP, EFT, and TIME Practitioner by the International Board of Coaches and Practitioners. I’m currently pursuing my certification as a Master Practitioner by the IBCP, as well as my certification in The Science of Well-Being by Yale University 🤓
